Medieval Tents

While I am in London sourcing, I wanted to leave you with a rather magical post.  One can dream what you might do if you owned one these!

Don't you love the blue scalloped detail here?

I would love to see three of these in blue and white by the pool surrounded by topiary trees.  Maybe an exotic center table with a dolphin base in the center of the tent with a blue and white delft pot containing an orange or kumquat tree.  Tons of antique French wicker baskets underneath the table filled with beautiful embroidered towels and hand painted umbrellas to shade you from the sun!  A silver tray on top of the table with a horn shaped pitcher of water and etched cut glasses.....sounds like such a lovely sunny day.

Sundays in New York

This past Sunday before I took off to London and Barcelona, I decided to take a crash photography course.  So, I met with Judith Farber on the Main Floor of the New York Public Library to begin the day.

...And here is how it started.  Blurry photos, dark photos, bad shots one after another.

Then, she taught me the correct angle to take a photo when you have great lighting.  See Judith in the window here with the northern exposure light.

Most all of my photos were blurry or too dark in the beginning.

As Judith tweaked my camera to the correct settings and taught me to stand really still, the more and more I shot my photos started looking better!

Mr. Handsome decided to sit and be in my shot.  Fine by me!

...and then the designer in me began shooting the hardware!  It is just so fabulous!

All photos shot by me!  If you haven't spent much time touring the library, go visit...you never know what or who will be around the next corner.

Headed to see Big Ben!

Haven't you recieved your invitation to the wedding too??

Only Kidding!

I am off to London this week to visit my friends Bess and Max.  Both former employees at Charlotte Moss, who have moved to the city of London to pursue their dreams. I look forward to tons of shopping, eating, and antiquing in this beautiful city with such amazing architecture.

My friend and I are staying at The Orange on Pimlico Road.  Supposedly, it only has four hotel rooms in the building and is well-known for its pub and restaurant.  It still looks fabulous to me!

I can't wait to fill you in with more pictures of the hotel and my travels.  Hopefully, I will be bringing back many more sources for all you interior designers out there who love to shop abroad!

Architectural Digest Home Design Show 2011

What can I say?  Philippe Le Manach took the award for best booth this year with his fourteen foot high treillage of magnificence!  Accents of France has been leading the United States in French garden design for several years.  The trellis design became famous in the gardens of Versailles, and has spread in its popularity across the world.  Philippe can help you design your garden full of treillage in New York, California, or anywhere around the world!

This silver bullet awaits you at the entrance to the show!
Moore and Giles, well-known for their leather goods, had a very striking appearance at the entrance to the show.  Not only do they carry great leather bags for travel, but also some nice stylish leather chairs.

Lots of leather handbags and carryalls.

Check out this fun picnic bag for wine bottles and all your utensils.  Very important whenever travelling the English countryside.

Gargoyles Ltd. from Pennsylvania is a company that has mainly catered to hotels and restaurants for its vintage reproduction pieces.  As seen below, the company carries many items that you would usually find only at an antique flea market in England!   Somehow, they figured out how to reproduce these pieces to sell to the masses.

Stop by Pier 94, 55th street and west side highway to view these booths.  Show is open until Sunday afternoon!

Saturday 10am - 7pm
Sunday 10am - 6pm
